If you would like to receive an occasional e-mail of interest to dealership management:  Click Here __________________________________________________________________________________________
(Because clicking on any of the underlined instructions will cause you to leave this page, you may want to print these instructions now for your reference).

1. Go to www.dealers-insurance.com

2. Click on the "Employment Screening" button which is 11 buttons down on the menu on the left.

3. Then select option 03: "To order background checks: Click Here",
that will take you to the log in screen.

4. Enter your user name and password and press enter.
That will take you directly to the background-check-services screen.

5. Click on the "Order Reports" tab at the top of the screen and select each of the various searches you want to order from the drop down menu or select a "Custom Package" option from the "Order Reports" section.

6. Once you make your selection it will take you to a screen and prompt you to enter the subject information which will require:
the subject's first name, last name, date of birth, social security number and address.

7. After you enter the information click "Continue"

8. You will need to enter the information required to do the searches you requested. For example for MVR's you need the drivers license # and the State in which it was issued. For a Statewide criminal you need to enter the state you want to search and for a county criminal you need the county and state.

9. Once that's done it will take you to the screen to review and confirm your selection and place the order.

10. For your convenience, be sure to enter the
Departmental Billing Code on the "Reference Code" line designating which department in your Dealership the employment screening search is to be charged to. By doing this you will save a lot of time by knowing which department in the dealership to charge the search to when you get your monthly statement.

Helpful Tips For Ordering Criminal Background Checks

A. You never want to enter a suffix to the last name such as Jr, Sr.II, III etc.

This will rarely pull a record even if the applicant has one.

In addition we should never use middle names when performing a state level criminal history as it reduces the chance of getting a match.

People are rarely arrested / booked with their First, Middle and Last name.

Even if we can think of several that have, the chances of the county or state not collecting or storing the middle name information, or better yet messing up a middle initial such as I instead of l (this is an i in upper case and an L in lower case but looks the same, are very good.

By putting a middle initial we literally take out one third of all of our data - it is even worse when we use the entire middle name as a search parameter.

B. When "Jr." or "Sr." are used it gets worse still.

C. The cardinal sin is the hyphen or dash.

if you enter Jones-Brown in as the last name and even though we know this person has a very lengthy record we will not see it

People generally try to hyphenate names when searching for criminal records because they are unsure which name to use to get any results (if any exist).

In reality the above example should be separated into two searches.

One with Jones and one with Brown.

These are technically AKAs' (also known as) or Aliases

D. Always use the date of birth.

Arrest records always use the date of birth as a reference.

This is the only way to get good results and certainly reduces the employers liability because they are acting in a "Prudent Manner" rather than just jumping through a liability hoop.
